The human resources manager will lead and direct HR functions including recruiting, payroll processing, on/off-boarding, benefit and leave administration, employee relations, and policy administration. Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices with regard to human resources as well as payroll, benefit plans, safety, talent management, etc. The incumbent must be mission-driven and both experienced in and passionate about working in a nonprofit environment.
Essential functions
- Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
- Provide support and guidance to management and staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations. Helps provide a productive non-discriminatory work environment by promoting equal opportunities. Responds promptly to claims of discrimination, harassment, and workplace violence.
- Manage the talent acquisition process, which includes recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants; collaborates with departmental managers/supervisors to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Monitors and participates in all interviewing and hiring processes. Provides a brief summary of employee benefits to prospective employees. Collects all employment related documents and coordinates and confirms that pre-hiring requirements are completed, and results are received. - Conduct orientation for all new employees to include communication of group benefits, company policies and procedures, provide appropriate manuals and other documents to new employees. Conduct Q&A sessions.

- Receive recommendations for employee promotions and/or pay changes and prepare recommended pay changes in written form for final approval.
- Oversee the company’s wage and salary program. Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommend best practices; review policies and procedures to maintain compliance. Serve as the equal employment officer (EEO). Review and monitor personnel activities to ensure compliance relating to equal employment opportunity policies.
- Participate in activities to accomplish the highest level of safety for company employees. Recommend programs and/or procedures for implementation based on the organization’s emergency safety plan.
- Perform a variety of payroll duties involving payroll processing such as receiving, reviewing, entering, auditing, and processing payroll data; maintain payroll files and records; maintain payroll system; review and reconcile payroll reports; provide information for journal entries; provide payroll information to employees and payroll-related entities; and ensure adherence to established payroll policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

Schedule
- Monday to Friday, on site 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Periodic “manager on duty” shifts Saturdays or Sundays 8 a.m.–3 p.m. (in exchange for day off during the preceding workweek)

Aquatics
The Lifeguard will follow the schedule provided, and help maintain that the pool(s) are ready for a relaxing and fun experience for our
members and guest and assist in enforcing the CDC guidelines. Lifeguards are supervised by the Head Guard and Aquatic Director.
Work schedules can vary based on assigned schedule.
Essential functions
- He/she is expected to arrive on time and ready to work his/her respective shift. The lifeguard is responsible for finding an
appropriate substitute for his/her shift when not able to work the regular hours scheduled. - All lifeguards are required to wear the full and proper uniform to work. This includes the current LJCC lifeguard suit, shorts
and lifeguard shirt. - He/she must position him/herself in the appropriate chair or standing position for optimal viewing and scanning procedures.
- Guards should never guard from lawn or lounge chairs.
- Responsible for preventing emergencies whenever possible. This means being alert and attentive while guarding on deck and require the lifeguard to assess potentially dangerous situations before they become dangerous or elevated. This may include items such as keeping the deck free and clear of all dirt and clutter, addressing aggressive, inappropriate, or rough housing types of behavior, assessing the skill level of swimmers and determining if they are in appropriate area of the pool per their skills.
- Responsible for responding to emergency situations quickly and professionally; utilizing all the proper lifeguard and rescue
procedures to ensure the optimal outcome. In any given situation, he/she may be called upon to take lead a rescue effort, or may be required to assist another guard member, or staff person. He/she must assess each situation and determine with the team what his/her role is to be for that situation. - He/she must be versed in the LJCC Emergency Action Plan at any/all times; knowing what to do in the event an emergency
occurs. - The lifeguard consistently, promptly, and fairly enforces the facility policies, rules and regulations.
- He/she also assists other guards or staff if they need additional support when enforcing rules.
- Maintain a professional and positive rapport with members and guests. He/she communicates with members in a polite and confident manner, and explains policies and practices in a way that enables members to better understand a situation or rational for a policy.
- He/she is required to assist their supervisor in the completion of chemical records and accident/incident reports; and may be
required to perform these tasks independently. - Responsible for performing all opening and closing procedures completely and thoroughly, as assigned by the Head Guard or
Supervisor; following the Opening and Closing Procedure checklist. - Additional duties may include cleaning the deck, filters, or arranging equipment or supplies throughout the day.
- Inform the Aquatics Director or Human Resources of situations that need immediate attention, including injury or accident reports, emergencies, rescues or saves, pool closings due to chemical, fecal or other reasons, and all behavioral situations requiring follow up with members, staff, parents, or law enforcement personnel.
- Lifeguards are required to maintain current certifications throughout his/her employment.
- Attend meetings and in-services according to the lifeguard manual. In addition, you are required to attend any additional inservice or other training deemed required by the Aquatics Director, Property Manager or Executive Director of the LJCC.
- Responsible for accurately signing in and out for lifeguard and/or group/private swim lessons.
He/she is responsible to the Aquatic Director, Head Guard and Property Manager, and must respond professionally and
immediately to direction given by any of these individuals. He/she should assist in every way to help the entire Aquatics
Department develop a “culture of safety” characterized by the following:
- Participating in regular training, audits and testing with a positive and professional attitude.
- Accepting feedback from Management; listening to their observations and responding immediately to their
recommendations. - Understanding the more we test ourselves, the safer we become as a team.
- Awareness and openness to ideas and procedures that are being implemented at other facilities throughout the

The swim instructor position assists the aquatics director in oversight of the Aquatics Center within the Levite Jewish Community Center, including but not limited to, risk management, patron oversight, customer service, emergency response,
documentation, facility/area upkeep, and assistance as requested by the aquatics director or professional staff.

- Perform all necessary lifeguard and water safety instructor skills as certified by the American Red Cross
Stay current on all pertinent certifications - Respond to all medical and non-medical services in the Aquatics area

Responsible for successful instruction of learn-to-swim programming, customer service, emergency response, proper documentation, facility/area upkeep, and assistance as requested by the Aquatics Director.

Assisting other coaches in our collective goal to provide the best experience to the child.

This position will aid in maintaining child to teacher ratios in our early childhood classrooms. It will require tasks associated with childcare and early childhood education.

Facilities
Fitness
The fitness floor attendant is responsible for member services, performing standard operations, and enforcing policies on the fitness floor. The position supports a positive environment for members, visitors, and colleagues.
The FFA is responsible for providing outstanding customer and fitness service, ensuring the safety and well-being of all members and guests while helping shape a warm and friendly community experience throughout the fitness center, Group Exercise Department, and the entire LJCC.
Essential functions
- Provide information on general fitness.
- Be reliable, courteous, and punctual in responses to any and all member inquiries.
- Organize fitness area.
- Take a proactive approach to member retention by developing solid relationships and serving each member above and beyond expectations.
- Address member and staff concerns and suggestions in a timely, professional manner.
- Ensure equipment is in working order by properly identifying all equipment maintenance issues and reporting and logging any issues.
- Ensure that fitness areas are clean and set up according to set standards, including temperature, music, and TV settings.
- Serve as a first-responder in emergency situations and follow emergency protocols set by the LJCC.
- Preform opening/closing procedures for fitness center.
- Learn, understand, and communicate an up-to-date and accurate knowledge of all services offered by The J and the Wellness Department.

The Levite JCC is searching for innovative and energetic fitness professionals. We are interested in individuals certified to teach group exercise classes (e.g., boot camp, cycle, yoga, Zumba, barre or other classes) and/or certified to perform personal training for clients.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provides excellent customer service by promptly responding to member needs and concerns
- Develops positive relationships with class participants by teaching a variety of challenging and
entertaining group fitness classes - Instructing clients using proper form and safe methods on a variety of equipment
- Educates class participants on correct form and alternate moves during the fitness routine
- Attentively listens to members, answers questions, and engages in conversation before and
after classes - Provides current music ensuring appropriate language
- Availability to teach a minimum of 1-5 classes per week (classes are offered early mornings, midday, evenings, weekends, and holidays)
- Plan and prepare diligently before each class, including study of choreography and class planning prior to each class
- Lift hand weights, demonstrate full body push ups, and maintain high-energy for 30 to 60-minute class is required

Les Mills Cycle/RPM instructors are responsible for leading and delivering group fitness instruction ranging in variety and level from aerobic activity, as directed in Les Mills programming. This includes developing and organizing choreography, movement sequencing and progression, cueing participants set up, safety, execution, and more.
The Levite Jewish Community Center is seeking energetic LES MILLS CYCLE/RPM INSTRUCTORS (Other Les Mills certifications are required). The instructor must be high energy, motivating, and a relationship builder who will help others reach their goals through exercise while having fun. - Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational cycle classes to accomplish the wellness department mission and goals of providing safe, fun, and effective group fitness classes.
- Creates a welcoming class environment for all fitness levels and encourages and motivates members.

- Updates accurate class attendance records in Group Ex Pro application.
- Responsible for self-registering classes coached in Paycom application.
- Maintain the Group Fitness equipment and room, and inform management of equipment malfunction or maintenance needs.
- Attends required training workshops and staff meetings.
- Follows LJCC recreation policies and procedures; responds to emergencies.

Requirements
- Must maintain current CPR/AED/First Aid certification throughout employment.
- Must have a current Fitness or Group Fitness related certification (Les Mills)

Personal Trainer (1099/independent contractor)
Compensation: Earn 40-percent+ of session fees based on experience and performance
Join the dynamic fitness team at the Levite Jewish Community Center, where we are committed to promoting health and wellness for individuals of all ages. We are seeking personal trainers to work with both adults and youth (ages 8-15). While experience in youth fitness training is a plus, it is not a requirement — we welcome enthusiastic trainers with a passion for helping others.
This is a 1099/independent contractor position offering flexibility to create your own schedule and enjoy free access to our state-of-the-art fitness facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide engaging, results-driven personal training sessions for adults and youth.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with members, creating a welcoming fitness environment.
- Lead small group youth fitness programs with age-appropriate exercises (if qualified).
- Ensure member safety by monitoring equipment usage and enforcing facility policies.
- Promote and sell personal training services and wellness programs.
- Collaborate with the fitness director on scheduling, record-keeping, and administrative tasks.
- Assist with fitness center operations and facility coverage as needed.
Qualifications
- National certification in personal training is required (e.g., NASM, ACE, ISSA, etc.).
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are required (discounted safety certifications available once hired).
- A degree in exercise science or related field is a plus but not required.
- Experience in youth fitness training or sports coaching is beneficial but not mandatory.
- At least one year of personal training or fitness programming experience is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Independent contractor personal trainer insurance is required (insurance vendor recommendations available if needed).

Miscellaneous
This position will aid in providing childcare services for LJCC members as they utilize our facilities for exercise and wellness.
Essential functions
- Provide children with a safe and clean environment

Contacts are made with others both inside and outside of the LJCC. Fulfill the needs of our members and guests by providing services on-site through the use of both phone and face-to-face interactions. Must be able to handle confidential/sensitive information of our members and guests with the utmost discretion.
Education and/or Experience
- Must be 16 or older
- Experience working with young children preferred.
