We offer a year-round swim lesson program at the LJCC, meaning you have the ability to start and stop whenever you like. Options include private and semi-private that run for 30 minutes. Whether you’re looking to get your child used to the water or you’re an adult who wants to learn to swim, our programming covers ages 24 months and up.
Interested in swim lessons? Complete an online swim lesson request form. Once an online request is received, you will be contacted by an Aquatics professional staff member to match you with a swim instructor. Please allow up to one week for the Aquatics team to contact you.
Once matched, you will be contacted by your swim instructor to confirm your first lesson date and time. Times available for private lessons vary based on pool availability and instructor schedules. Private lessons are not conducted during times scheduled for group lessons or rentals.
Due to COVID-19, swimmers must wear a mask while they are here for swim lessons unless they are in the water. All instructors will be wearing masks during the swim lesson. Your safety and our instructor’s safety is our top priority.

Infant Swim Resource
Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) is a nationally recognized aquatic self-rescue and swimming program developed in 1996 and continuously improved by the behavioral psychologist, Dr. Harvey Barnett. Lessons emphasize developmentally-appropriate instruction, health issues and considerations, ongoing program evaluations, and parent education.
Infants 6-12 months learn to hold their breath underwater, roll onto their back and float unassisted.
Infants over 1 year learn the following sequence: how to hold their breath underwater: swim with their head down: roll onto their back to float, rest, and breathe: roll back over to resume swimming until they reach the side of the pool and can crawl out or be rescued by an adult.
Individually tailored lessons are one-on-one, for 10 minutes, 5 days a week, for 4 to 6 weeks of instruction for children ages 6 months to 3 years.
