DESCRIPTION:RSVP (lunch included)\nSally and Richard Friedman\, who recently returned from an intensive two-week experience in Israel\, will discuss their trip and field questions at The J on Thursday\, September 25\, noon-1 p.m. \nThe couple met with Israelis affected by October 7 and its aftermath and visited regions of the country impacted by the wars with Hamas\, Hezbollah\, Iran\, and the Houthis. \n“Our goal was to better understand how Israelis have dealt with these challenges and how the past two years will affect Israel moving forward\,” Richard says. “It was a powerful educational and emotional experience\,” adds Sally. \nRichard is retired executive director of the Levite Jewish Community Center and the Birmingham Jewish Federation. Sally is retired executive director of the Birmingham Jewish Foundation.
