Miles Jewish Day School\, Chabad of Alabama\, and Knesseth Israel — is working with the city governments of Mountain Brook and Birmingham and United Way of Central Alabama to help alleviate the situation. \nThis effort is largely inspired by the Jewish tradition of tikkun olam — commonly translated as repairing the world. Accordingly\, the LJCC will serve as a collection point for financial and food donations starting Monday. \nHere’s what you can do: \n\nDrop off food donations inside our lobby Monday-Thursday (Nov. 6)\, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. (scroll down on this page to see the list of accepted items along with other drop-off points that might be more convenient for you)\nMake a financial donation \n\nOur thanks in advance for however you can help. \nWith gratitude\, \nBrooke Bowles\nLJCC CEO \n\n*Access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly known as Food Stamps) will end nationwide on November 1.
