WBRC news checks out new ‘J After School’ youth program

LJCC Program Director Elizabeth Patton tells WBRC about The J’s new after-school youth program.

WBRC Fox 6 News stopped by The J recently to check out our new J After School program for grades 3-7 that’s free for members. The J will host an informational open house for families (free pizza!) on Monday, August 21, in a completely refreshed Youth Lounge. The program will start welcoming kids the next day (Tuesday, August 22) at 3:30 p.m.

Scholarships are available to help cover the cost of a membership.

“We really want this to be a place where kids can come in, feel proud, and feel ownership for it,” says Program Director Elizabeth Patton.

The long history of youth-enrichment programs at The J means that J After School participants will benefit from supervised and structured educational activities and homework help in addition to a variety of board games and puzzles, a pool table, and Nintendo Switch.
