Here at the Levite Jewish Community, we strive to benefit all age groups, including older adults and seniors. From specific fitness classes to group learning opportunities, we want our senior members to feel welcome and valued within the community.
*Currently, our older adult programming is taking place virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stay tuned for more programs that you can tune into via Zoom!
*Due to COVID-19 we have a limited number of senior fitness classes offered. LITT and Dance Fitness Gold are offered virtually, and water aerobics is offered for a limited time in the outdoor pool. See Group Fitness schedule for details.
We have 14 low impact fitness classes per week, which is a weekly routine for those who want chair/light aerobics to boost their fitness level. All classes are held in the LJCC auditorium.
Along with encouraging physical activity, our team is committed to assisting seniors with their wellness overall. Because of this, we have stretching tables available for individuals who have a tough time doing floor stretches, several of our personal trainers are specialized in senior fitness, and we have massage therapists on staff to work deep tissue or soothe past injuries.
Our Senior Onboarding is one of our specialized training packages created to assist our senior members, getting them comfortable on the fitness floor. A Functional Aging Specialist will educate them on suitable exercises and equipment to promote functional strength and healthy longevity.
The Senior Onboarding is $50 per person for ages 65 and older and includes 2 personal training sessions.
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute
We are proud to be an official Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) site. The LJCC will be hosting the Greater Birmingham Area OLLI to offer lifelong learning opportunities for adults over 50 years old. These are noncredit courses that don’t have grades or assignments, so you can continue your education without stress.
