Sukkot | Festival of Booths is a seven-day festival beginning five days after Yom Kippur on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Tishrei. Sukkot is one of the Shalosh Regalim, or three pilgrimage festivals that include Passover and Shavuot. Sukkot both celebrates the harvest and commemorates the type of dwelling the Israelites lived in during their 40 years of wandering through the desert. Read more…


Tues., Sept. 29: Shake & Snack 

Cohn Early Childhood Learning Center students are invited to the sukkah for a special Sukkot celebration. Led by a Jewish educator, we’ll shake the lulav, smell the etrog, enjoy a yummy snack, and learn all about this fun Jewish holiday together. 

 

Wed., Sept. 30: Lunch & Learn (noon-1 p.m.)

Led by Rabbi Henkin

A Lunch & Learn program held in the sukkah featuring a rabbi-led discussion on Sukkot. Participants will explore the themes and traditions of the holiday while enjoying a provided lunch in the community sukkah.

 

Thurs., Oct. 1: Mahjong in the Sukkah (11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.)  

Participants are invited to enjoy an afternoon of mahjong in the community sukkah. Players of all experience levels are welcome to gather for social play while enjoying light refreshments. Snacks will be provided. 

 

Fri., Oct. 2: Shabbat craft & snack in the Sukkah (2-4 p.m.)

A Shabbat gathering in the community sukkah featuring a hands-on craft activity and light refreshments. Participants will enjoy a creative project, snacks, and the opportunity to spend time in the sukkah while getting ready to welcome Shabbat.
