Cohn ECLC scholarship application

Financial assistance at Cohn Early Childhood Learning Center

The Levite Jewish Community Center is a nonprofit organization that serves community members regardless of age, race, ethnicity, religion, or gender. While we depend on tuition, membership dues, and program fees to help maintain our services, we are committed to serving people regardless of income level.

Fee reductions are available on a case-by-case basis depending on your application and Cohn ECLC financial resources.

How to apply

  1. Complete the financial assistance form (below).
  2. Submit copies of income documentation (your two most recent IRS 1040 forms and pay stubs).
  3. Submit the application online and then deliver (by hand, mail, or email) copies of requested documents to the Cohn ECLC (to the attention of Kat Culp). We can even make copies for you in our office. We will be unable to process your application without income documentation.
  4. The Cohn ECLC’s Financial Assistance Committee will review your application.

Application information will remain confidential.

Application details

Applies to new + returning families

  • April 24: Applications open
  • May 15: All materials due
  • June 15: Decisions sent
    • This timing allows families and staff to prepare for classroom switches and fall placement.
    • All families are told the decision by July 15, allowing families time to adjust plans accordingly by classroom swap on August 3.
  • Scholarships increase access to early childhood education and increase the entire family’s access to The J’s programming and community through the lens of Jewish Values.
  • Awards are needs-based and given as percentage reductions of tuition.
  • All children receive the same classroom experience regardless of scholarship status.
  • Funds are limited and awarded based on demonstrated need within each single annual cycle.
  • A designated portion of scholarship funds is reserved for emergency assistance during the school year to support families experiencing unexpected financial hardship (e.g., job loss, medical events, housing disruption).
    • Emergency awards are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and do not follow the annual application timeline but all emergency awards expire the same as normal scholarships, and are not awarded an entire scholarship year, simply the year remaining.

Due by June 15

  • Scholarship application form
  • Proof of income (recent pay stubs or tax return)
  • Household size
  • Optional hardship statement

Information will remain confidential.

Remember that scholarships require annual reapplication.

Upon receiving a reduction in fees, you must inform the Cohn ECLC in writing of any changes in information supplied in this application (regarding income, address, living arrangements, employment, marital status, or other matters that might affect your eligibility for financial assistance). Similarly, failure to comply with your reduction in fee payment arrangements could result in being disqualified from receiving financial assistance in the future.
