Roz Feigelson Circle of Life Knitting Group

Join us every Tuesday at 10 a.m. to knit scarves for those in our community who are fighting cancer. Don’t know how to knit? No worries — we’re happy to teach you a new skill while providing a service for our community. The Roz Feigelson Circle of Life Knitting Group is made possible by generous donors.

Reach out to membership@bhamjcc.org to get involved.

History

Circle of Life Knitters began as a knitting class run by Roz Feigelson and Sherrie Grunfeld. They planned to run the class to teach adults a new skill while creating friendships. At the end of six weeks, the ladies did not want to stop; in fact, they wanted to do more!

At the time, Roz was receiving treatment for Breast Cancer at UAB and decided the group would knit scarves for patients at the treatment center. Although Roz passed away, the group continued knitting. Today, The Roz Feigelson Circle of Life Knitters knit about 1,500 scarves a year for distribution to the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, Alabama Oncology at Grandview, and The St. Vincent Cancer Center.
