OUTDOOR POOL
The outdoor pool will open for the 2026 season on May 19.
- Daily family swim hours start at 10 a.m.
- Don’t miss Thursday Family Fun Nights throughout June and July
- Look for our famous giant pool inflatables at Thursday Family Fun Nights (see above) and on holidays
Pool closings
Both the indoor and outdoor pools can unexpectedly close due to weather (even the indoor pool will close due to nearby lightning strikes), power outages that disrupt pool machinery, and biological accidents (see more detail below). We will do our best to keep you informed via email, text messages, app notifications, and homepage alert banners.
Closed for meets
In addition, the outdoor pool will close at 2:30 p.m. for swim meets on the following days:
- Tuesday, June 9, 2:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 23, 2:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, July 7, 2:30 p.m.
Pool rules
- All children who are not fully potty trained are required to wear reusable i play-brand swim diapers (available for purchase at the Welcome Desk). In addition, the families of individuals who are responsible for fecal contamination of a pool will be fined $200.
- Alabama state law requires that all participants shower with soap before entering a pool, sauna, or steam room.
- Participants with open wounds or infectious diseases are prohibited from using the pools.
- All pools will temporarily closed whenever lightning strikes within 10 miles of the LJCC.
- A pool will be closed for 24 hours in cases of fecal contamination.
- Appropriate swimming attire must be worn (gym shorts, cutoff shorts, sports bras, thongs, etc. are not allowed).
- Chewing gum and glass containers are prohibited in or around the pool.
- Spitting, spouting water, and blowing your nose in the water are prohibited.
- Diving, running on the deck, and horseplay in or around the pools is prohibited.
- Individuals 15 years of age and younger must be directly supervised by a guardian who is at least 18 years old and who must be present on the pool deck or in the water.
- Extended underwater breath holding is prohibited.
- Only U.S. Coast Guard-approved floatation devices are allowed in the pool.
- Lap lanes are utilized on a first-come-first-served basis. During peak usage, however, it may become necessary to share lanes and circle-swim with others.
- Do not grasp, sit on, or otherwise disturb lane lines.
- Diving blocks may only be used by the swim team with a coach present.
- Diving is not permitted from the sides of the pool.
- The use of “mermaid” tails or mono-fins is prohibited.
- Kickboards, pull buoys, dumbbells, wet belts, etc. are for exercise only. These items are not to be used as floatation devices for children.
- No running or jumping backwards off diving boards.
- Flotation devices are not allowed on the diving boards

Note that pool hours are subject to holiday facility hours.
Our heated indoor pool is open all year during regular building hours. Note that the family locker rooms that adjoin the pool deck are for families with young children only.
Lap swimmers
Even though the pool can get quite busy during the day, lap swimmers will have at least one lane open:
- All day Mondays-Thursdays except for 4-6 p.m.
- All day Fridays-Sundays
