The Levite JCC is pleased to announce that its Cohn Early Childhood Learning Center’s Ilanot program has been selected as an Alabama First Class Pre-K Program for the upcoming school year. The designation places Ilanot among the state’s highest-quality pre-kindergarten programs and reflects The J’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional early childhood education.
“This is a great honor and a tremendous achievement for our school community,” says Chief Programs Officer Barbara Traweek. “Being selected as a First Class Pre-K site validates the outstanding work our teachers do every day and gives our children access to one of the nation’s most highly regarded early learning models.”
National recognition
Alabama’s First Class Pre-K program is nationally recognized as one of the best in the country, having earned the highest quality rating from the National Institute for Early Education Research for 19 consecutive years. Programs must meet rigorous standards related to teaching, curriculum, accountability, and student outcomes.
For Ilanot students, the designation means access to research-based curriculum and instructional practices, highly qualified teachers, ongoing assessments, and individualized support designed to help every child succeed. The program emphasizes social-emotional development, language and literacy skills, early math and science concepts, creativity, and problem-solving through engaging, play-based learning experiences.
“The recognition reflects the dedication of ECLC staff, the support of families, and a shared commitment to helping children learn, grow, and thrive during some of the most important years of their development,” Barbara adds.
