Creative Workshop: Honoring and Channeling Loss and Adversity

March 15 @ 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

  • Sunday, March 15, 5 p.m.
  • Free
  • In partnership with CJFS
  • Led by artist and storyteller Dara Kosberg
  • RSVP

This 90-minute, in-person gathering invites you to slow down and honor a loss or adversity of any kind, personal or collective. This workshop is facilitated by artist, storyteller, and grief and post-traumatic growth program director, Dara Kosberg and is offered in partnership with CJFS.

Using flowers, leaves, and natural materials, we’ll create small mandalas as a way to honor and reflect on what we’ve lost or lived through. This could be anything from loss of a loved one to a personal, communal or societal challenge. The practice is simple and intuitive, offering a way to give shape to our experiences. We’ll provide materials, but you’re also welcome to bring small items – stones, mementos, photos – that you’d like to incorporate into your mandala.
From there, we’ll gather for reflection and conversation, gently shifting toward meaning and possibility inspired by our losses. We’ll close by creating a collective mandala together to honor the values and intentions we want to bring into our lives. No art experience needed. Facilitated by artist, storyteller, and grief and post-traumatic growth program director Dara Kosberg, this workshop is offered in connection with her solo show, “Homecoming”, taking place at the Levite JCC on Monday, March 16.
