Kickboxing with Yakov

In Ukraine, Yakov was able to gain experience in Brazilian jiu jitsu, kickboxing, karate, and even aikido. This unique background trickles down to his clients today: “A lot of people don’t realize how many movements and techniques have been borrowed from the martial arts by health and wellness,” he says.

Starting at the end of this month, longtime J trainer Yakov Lyublinskiy will begin teaching a new kickboxing course at The J. The six-week series of classes (Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.) will cost $200 and be open to all fitness levels; no prior experience will be required. The first class will be November 29. If you don’t want to sign up for the full class schedule, the cost of just dropping in will be $30 per class (but no charge for your first class if you just want to check it out and gauge your own interest).

Yakov will offer a free demonstration class on November 17 at 6:30 p.m.

Yakov is excited about the class, which he says “Will be a little bit of everything,” including learning techniques and self-defense skills while working with a partner, plus getting a good workout and doing proper stretches.

Details:

  • Demo class on November 17 at 6:30 p.m.
  • The six-week program (Tuesdays and Thursdays) starts November 29 at 6:30 p.m. 5:30 p.m.
  • Cost is $200, but drop-ins will pay $30 per class (no charge for your first class if you just want to see if it’s right for you)

Take a step back before hitting play on this video of Yakov demonstrating some kickboxing moves. While class participants probably won’t be this proficient at the end of the six-week program, you’ll most likely know enough to impress friends and family.
