It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Marilynn Potts Leeds, who retired from the Levite Jewish Community Center last May after 30 years as a personal trainer. Marilynn, 74, received the Legacy of Strength Award during the LJCC annual meeting earlier this year in honor of her “unwavering commitment to health and fitness” and for “promoting a healthy lifestyle inspiring our community to thrive and grow stronger together.” The award has been renamed the Marilynn Potts Leeds Legacy of Strength Award.
May her memory be a blessing.
“I’ve met hundreds of professionals in almost every facet of the health and wellness field, but Marilynn is truly exceptional,” said Fitness Director Camari Princewill on the occasion of Marilynn’s retirement (read the full story). “This is due in no small part to her innate ability to remind people in a very natural way that they are worthy of being loved.”
As we reflect on Marilynn’s contributions to our community, all of us here at The J extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends, and all who were touched by her smile and laughter.
Arrangements
In addition to the April 9 service at Temple Emanu-El, the LJCC will host a Celebration of Life service (details TBD). Please consider making a donation in Marilynn’s memory to the newly created Marilynn Potts Leeds LJCC Fitness Fund at the Birmingham Jewish Foundation.
