My time as a shlicha | Jewish emissary has come to an end. It was filled with sharing Israeli culture and Judaism, welcoming Shabbat together, presenting to the community, and having countless conversations with anyone I could reach.
I hope that whatever impact I might have had continues to echo in this community long after I leave.
Thank you for everything: the opportunity to come here, the J Camp campers, the JCC staff, the host families, Chabad, the local Israelis, the Jewish community as a whole, and the Levite Jewish Community Center.
I never could have expected such an amazing experience. Birmingham is beautiful. The rain in the summer truly does amazing things for the unique and diverse natural beauty here.
I expected that being the only shlicha from Israel might be lonely, but the people here welcomed me with so much warmth and kindness. This community made sure I had everything I needed, every step of the way. I also expected it would be difficult to teach a majority non-Jewish group of campers, but instead I had the honor of introducing them to a culture entirely new to them. They showed up and participated in every lesson with open hearts, and they’ll always have a special place in mine.
I hope people remember my time here — both the energy I brought to teaching and what I taught. I hope I left a real impact on this community, and on the campers especially. I want the staff to remember me fondly, and I hope this experience encourages even more meaningful programming for a Jewish community as special as this one.
It’s good that I have a hard time saying goodbye. For me to have something to lose, I first needed to earn. I can say with confidence that I have earned.

לא ציפיתי לחוויה כזאת, בירמינגהם מהממת
הגשם במהלך הקיץ עושה את העבודה ויש לכם טבע מהמם וייחודי
ציפיתי שלהיות השליחה היחידה מישראל יהיה בודד, האנשים מאוד נחמדים ומסבירי פנים, הייתה לי מעטפת לכל צורך שהייתי זקוקה אליו הקיץ.
ציפיתי שיהיה קשה לעבוד עם ילדים קטנים כשרובם לא יהודים בכלל, זכיתי להשפיע אפילו יותר ליצור ולהכיר להם תרבות שמאוד רחוקה מהם והם שיתפו איתי פעולה ונכנסו לי ללב
