Our Southern Jewish Voices program is excited to launch 2025 by sitting down with Dr. Carlie Stein Somerville on Wednesday, January 22, at noon. RSVP now for your complimentary lunch ticket.
Carlie is an associate professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and a third-generation Birminghamian who maintains deep family roots in the area. Interviewer Margaret Norman will talk to Carlie about her strong Jewish upbringing, and the two will also discuss Carlie’s journey through and experiences with the Knesseth Israel, Temple Beth-El, and Temple Emanu-El congregations.
The two will also discuss the importance of the N.E. Miles Jewish Day School in Carlie’s past and present, her interfaith marriage, and what it means to raise children in the same community where she grew up.
