As families continue to navigate rising costs and economic uncertainty, we’re working to make community, wellness, and connection more accessible this summer. Accordingly, we will waive our $150 join fee for all new members in June.
The initiative reflects The J’s longstanding commitment to ensuring that financial circumstances never stand in the way of participation. And how we strive to assist our neighbors in need — like last year when we collected food plus $28,000 to help offset cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

“We know many families are making difficult financial decisions right now,” says CEO Brooke Bowles. “Here at The J we’ve always been about community first. Waiving the join fee is just one small way we can help remove barriers and welcome more people through our doors.”
In addition, The J will continue to offer need-based scholarships to help make programs and services affordable for individuals and families of all backgrounds, plus discounted memberships for K-12 educators, veterans and active-duty military, and seniors. First responders enjoy free memberships.
“We don’t want cost to prevent someone from experiencing everything The J has to offer,” adds Brooke. “Whether it’s fitness, summer activities, childcare, senior programming, or simply having a place to belong, we are committed to serving people regardless of financial situation.”
Meanwhile, as J Camp starts up for another stellar season, we are most grateful for the $5,000 given generously by two donors to support camp scholarships. Visit our donation page if you want to contribute.
At-cost TFFN pricing
The same philosophy is guiding The J’s popular Thursday Family Fun Night pool parties in June and July. We’re emphasizing affordability by offering food for sale at cost, including a single slice of delicious pizza from our partner Slice Pizza & Brew, a soft drink, watermelon, and chips — all for less than $5. Also new this year, we will offer whole pizzas for pre-sale. Families can reserve their pizzas ahead of time and skip the hassle of figuring out dinner before heading to the pool.
