Tennis tourney at The J

The LJCC is pleased to announce the formation of its first Universal Tennis-sanctioned tournament. The March 5-6 event, called J Tennis Challenger, is the brainchild of Joey Unkenholz, director of The J’s tennis program.

The tournament has been set up through Universal Tennis, meaning that opponents will be matched according to skill level. Running the tournament this way is important, explains Joey, because it guarantees each player at least two full matches during the event. “Good tournaments are hard to find, and we’ll welcome anyone who wants to participate in the J Tennis Challenger,” he says. “That’s why this type of tournament is so cool.”

The last day to register for the tournament is March 3.

Joey’s approach to the tournament reflects his program philosophy: “Tennis at The J is open to anyone who wants to play and improve their game.” He is assisted by coaches Nelson Brod and Dale Clark, who has been at The J for nearly three decades.
