Welcome Lane Estes, Our New Chief Administrative Officer

The Levite Jewish Community Center is pleased to welcome Lane Estes as our new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).  In this role, Lane will guide our day-to-day administrative operations, strategic initiatives, and organizational infrastructure, ensuring The J continues to grow, thrive, and serve our community with excellence.

While Lane is stepping into a new staff role, he is no stranger to our halls. His personal history with The J dates back to when his children attended the Cohn Early Childhood Learning Center.

“I am honored to join the Levite Jewish Community Center as Chief Administrative Officer,” Lane shared. “The LJCC has long been a cornerstone of recreation, education, wellness, culture, and connection in Birmingham. My history with The J dates back to my children attending the ECLC, so it is a familiar place of belonging. I look forward to working closely with our staff, board, and community to foster operational strength and support the center’s vibrant future.”

Lane brings a wealth of executive operations, finance, and institutional leadership experience rooted right here in our city. He spent over 25 years in senior administration at Birmingham Southern College, ultimately serving as Vice President for Administration and Chief Operating Officer, and most recently managing the BSC campus transition to the U.S. Coast Guard.

His civic commitment runs just as deep: a 2013 graduate of Leadership Birmingham, Lane serves on the boards of Bush Hills Connections, Inc. and the Homewood Library Foundation, with past board service supporting the Homewood City Schools Foundation and Camp Fire USA.

“Lane’s proven track record of thoughtful leadership, operational excellence, and deep dedication to Birmingham makes him an invaluable addition to our executive team,” says LJCC CEO Brooke Bowles. “His expertise in managing complex operations and guiding organizations through strategic transitions will directly strengthen the LJCC’s mission as we serve our members and the broader community.”

When he isn’t optimizing systems or collaborating with our team across campus, you might catch Lane leading a high-energy ride as a certified indoor cycle instructor, tracking down a great bottle of bourbon, or staying plugged into his favorite NPR podcasts like Up First and Marketplace.

Look for Lane on campus starting on November 2nd.
