LJCC adds prenatal and postpartum group fitness classes

“It’s so important to have a central location not just for safe pregnancy and postpartum fitness, but also so these moms can connect and communicate and grow a community together,” says trainer Madison Cleckler.

The J is excited to announce the addition of prenatal and postpartum group fitness to its ever-expanding mix of classes. Taught by longtime postpartum- and pregnancy-certified trainer Madison Cleckler, the new offerings will start November 6. Space is limited.

“Group fitness classes are rarely modified for pregnancy and postpartum,” Madison explains. “There’s just not enough information out there and there are not enough safe group fitness classes that can be done without a ton of modification.”

Madison was understandably excited when The J agreed to add the two classes to its extensive group fitness offerings.

She emphasizes the importance of staying safe during these early phases of parenthood. “You want to heal your core and pelvic floor muscles properly so that you’ll have a lifetime of doing the active things you want to do,” she says.

Staying strong, keeping it fun

The prenatal class is designed to keep participants strong, flexible, and ready for birth.

It blends strength training, stretching, and mobility to help reduce pain, improve comfort, and prepare participants for smooth labor and quick recovery.

The postpartum class will rebuild participants’ core and pelvic floor muscles using guided exercises with a fun group-fitness vibe. Participants will feel stronger, more confident, and ready to take on motherhood.

Madison notes the mothers she sees picking up their kids from the Cohn Early Childhood Learning Center, a routine she knows well from when her own children attended. “It’s so important to have a central location not just for safe pregnancy and postpartum fitness, but also so these moms can connect and communicate and grow a community together.”
