It didn’t take Courtney Rogers long to determine that she’d taken the helm of a pretty solid fitness operation when she started as The J’s wellness director at the end of August. “We have some of the most knowledgeable personal trainers, each of whom has unique specialties and areas of expertise,” she says. “And our Group Fitness instructors bring so much energy and motivation to their classes. You can’t help but want to jump in when you hear their classes.”
But Courtney, who joined the fitness industry in 2013 and is a certified personal trainer, group fitness leader, and nutrition coach, knows that jump-starting wellness programs since the pandemic has been an industry-wide challenge. So — after not even a month on the job — she’s already planning to host a Wellness Day on Thursday, September 29.
“Building relationships and trust is such a crucial piece of fitness and wellness,” she explains. “It’s important to me to meet the members of our community and educate them about what we offer. Fall is in the air, and a lot of people are changing their routines, so there’s no better time to get some new folks in here and show them all we do. At the same time we’ll be able to remind our current members about the myriad ways we can support their wellness efforts.”
Learn and save
Members are encouraged to bring non-member friends to Wellness Day to enjoy healthy snacks and massages while visiting the Fitness Floor and learning about personal training, Group Fitness, swim instruction, swim and dive teams, youth sports, and private coaching. And visitors will still have a full day to take advantage of the current back-to-school membership special that can save new members up to $156 when they join.
In the end, though, you might think that Courtney set up the whole thing just to meet folks. “I just love people,” she says. “I’m so honored that I get to work in an industry where I can help empower others to achieve their wellness goals.”
