Our sincere thanks to everyone — guests, sponsors, volunteers, and staff — who helped make Sunday’s indoor Jewish Food and Culture Fest a very successful event.
After consulting with staff Friday morning about impending inclement weather, CEO Brooke Bowles made the call to hold the event inside The J. “While moving indoors was a slight challenge for some elements of the Food Fest, we’re fortunate to have a facility that’s large enough to comfortably accommodate everything we want to showcase,” she says. “And our staff and volunteers were exemplary in their flexibility and making the switch efficiently — and then in getting Sunday’s countless details right.”
An estimated 1,500 of our closest friends and neighbors attended and enjoyed our array of homemade food.
And of course the event would not have happened without this year’s more than 30 sponsors whose support was crucial to the day’s success — led by the Bernstein Family as our presenting sponsor.
The gym hosted the shuk market, where — thanks to funding from the Birmingham Jewish Foundation and Birmingham Jewish Federation — visitors once again were treated to free food samples in a recreation of a typical Israeli marketplace. The exhibitor fair featured some 20 vendors from Birmingham and as far away as New Orleans.
Entertainment was also solid, with emceeing by Rebecca Rothman and a great performance on the auditorium stage by Bigfoot County Revue. And look for the pickle eating contest to return next year…
