Since its founding in 1906, the Levite Jewish Community Center has bridged the Jewish and non-Jewish communities. We were one of the first community centers in Birmingham to accept female members, and the first community center to open its doors to all races during the civil rights movement. Today our doors are open to people of all faiths, ages, genders, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

We focus on community and wellness as a whole, and our varied programs serve as gathering places for our diverse membership. 

Just stop by to tour our facilities (just pick a time on weekdays between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.). Send your questions to membership@bhamjcc.org, call 205-879-0411, or simply stop by the Welcome Desk.

CHILDREN UNDER AGE 16 must be accompanied at all times by a parent/guardian when not attending a supervised program. Check with staff for any possible exceptions.

Membership categories and pricing

  • In addition to the monthly costs (see below), we charge a one-time $150 enrollment fee and require a six-month contract upon joining.
    • Memberships that are renewed within 12 months of cancelation will be subject to a $150 administrative fee in addition to the reenrollment fee.
  • Sign a 12-month contract and we’ll waive your $150 enrollment fee.
  • Check out our scholarship application in case the full cost of an LJCC membership poses a challenge.

  • Individual: $67/month
    • Individual first responder (firefighters, EMTs, and law enforcement officers): free (contact membership@bhamjcc.org for details
  • Single-parent family*: $85/month
  • Two adults: $100/month
  • Family*: $115/month
  • Month-to-month: $85/month

*Adult(s) and dependent(s) (up to age 26) must reside in the same household.

Custom pricing

Get at least five people from your company to join The J (including you) and you can all receive a 10 percent discount (and half-price registration fees of only $75).

  • Save $60+ per month per child on swim lessons ($720/annually per child).
  • Save $55-75 per week of J Camp (up to $300/month per child).
  • Save $25 off of each week of our “After-Care” supervised after-school program.

Your membership is good across the continent

Your LJCC membership makes you eligible to use most JCC Association of North America facilities. Please check with the JCC that you plan to visit for their specific policy. Visit the JCCA to find affiliated JCCs, and contact JCCs directly for their specific policies.
