“Physical activity saved my health,” says the popular trainer who came to Birmingham from Ukraine a quarter century ago. “It simply got stuck in my head that physical activity is important for maintaining mental and physical health.”
The final numbers showed 81 individuals playing 67 total matches. “It was great that whole families could participate,” says tournament organizer Joey Unkenholz.
The money will fund a new introduction to Judaism and Jewish culture class — a proposed eight-week course that will include overviews of the different sects along with Jewish foods and celebrations, plus a Birmingham Jewish civil rights tour.
